Greetings from Kinshasa in the DRC

Aug 9, 2023 | Gilbert's Journal

After an eventful 10 days in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, I arrived safely in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was a blessing to speak to another Region just before boarding the flight yesterday and the time spent with the Abidjan staff earlier in the week was also very productive.

Cote d’Ivoire is celebrating its Independence today and Abidjan was already full of flags lining up the streets.

This is my fourth visit to Kinshasa but this time there’s a very special buzz in the city – they just hosted the Francophonie games – the first event of such an International Scale in close to four decades.

Compared to my first visit in 2015, this nation is truly opening up to the outside world and I believe the leadership is very deliberate in its efforts.

Thanks for your prayers as I prepare to start teaching the students of the School of Missions on “Christ and Culture” followed by the Conference for Leaders and the Disciples in Central Africa.

It promises to be a great time of equipping, fellowship, and celebration! To God Be the Glory!
