I arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe last Thursday, following a night’s stopover with disciples who are dear friends in Kigali, Rwanda. Edwin and Christine Shumba, the leading couple in Harare, extended a warm Zimbabwean welcome. Originally scheduled for 2022, then 2023, this trip was postponed to January 2024, aligning perfectly with God’s timing.

On Friday, two fellow Bible teachers, Neil and Solly, flew in from South Africa, and Thabani drove from Gweru, as we all converged for a weekend of teachings on “The Holy Spirit and the Spirit Realm.”

The event commenced with a Friday evening lesson on “The Purpose of the Holy Spirit,” setting the stage for what turned out to be a spiritually enriching weekend. The four speakers delved into topics such as the promise, presence, and priority of the Holy Spirit, exploring Pentecostalism and the Spirit Realm. These themes were selected based on a survey conducted across churches in Southern Africa, addressing one of the top needs identified by the congregations in Zimbabwe.

The weekend’s culmination on Sunday featured a profound corporate worship experience, a lesson emphasizing the need to fix our eyes on Jesus, a dynamic Question & Answer Session, and heartfelt fellowship.

Reflecting on the first four days in Zimbabwe, the positive feedback received from brothers and sisters is deeply gratifying. Moreover, the experience has been characterized by immersion in nature, revealing the breathtaking beauty of Zimbabwe’s vast green pastures and scenic landscapes.

A delightful reunion occurred with a friend from Zimbabwe, who, a decade ago, worked with a consulting firm in Lagos and used to attend our Bible discussions for professionals. Our offices were conveniently located within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Now reconnected, he is gearing up to revamp his spiritual life with the help of  our church family here in Harare.

As I prepare to journey to Gweru on Wednesday and onward to Bulawayo on Friday for another weekend of teaching and fellowship, I’m profoundly grateful for the warmth and love extended by the Harare family through their exceptional gift of hospitality.

Your prayers are truly appreciated
